SKULL 101 "Master Series Workshop"
Craig Fraser has been drawing, and painting skulls since he could hold a pencil. When he picked up the airbrush, nothing changed, except for what he painted them on. Billy F. Gibbons, Jimmy Vaugn, Jesse James, and Rikki Rockett are just a few of the clients that currently possess a piece of artwork that Craig Fraser has covered in his trademark skulls. The creator of the Skullmaster series of stencils from Artool, Craig Fraser has authored numerous magazine articles, as well as DVD's demonstrating the art of reproducing skulls. Now at the Dru Blair School of Art, Craig has combined his workshop techniques from around the world to create one definitive workshop on the art of Skullology.
In this new workshop, students will not only learn the materials, and tools needed to create a landscape of skulls, but also the compositional, and 3-D rendering knowledge necessary to make your skulls really pop. In "Skull 101" you will learn the tricks to freehanding both realistic, and caricaturized skulls. Loose masking, stenciling, negative, and positive space composition: These techniques, as well as the infamous, "Stretched Skull" will be brought to light in Skull 101.
With House of Kolor as a primary sponsor, you will learn to use solvent based paints, and how to safely work them for the best results. If you have not taken a workshop from Craig before, it is recommended that you take the single day foundation, or "Materials" workshop as an introduction to any of his Automotive workshops. This foundation workshop will teach the differences, and advantages of the new S2 (Shimrin II) painting system developed by HoK. This S2 foundation day will give any painter of any level of experience, a distinct advantage over the competition, since Craig has been working with HoK for the past 3 years
on developing this new paint system. This workshop will also offer the ability for professional painters to acquire ICAR points, with an approved, and accredited ICAR/CASE curriculum developed by Craig Fraser through ASET/Iwata.
In "Skull 101" the projects will be painted on both black, and white powdercoated metal panels. Each student will have the opportunity to clearcoat their panel and take it home with them as a completed art-piece to hang in the studio and wow your clients. Don't miss this opportunity to learn everything you have ever wanted to know about painting skulls, but were afraid to ask.
Craig will instruct from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and the studio will be open until 9:00 pm
This workshop is held in a non-intimidating studio environment with both the novice and veteran artist in mind. No previous pinstriping or airbrushing experience is necessary.
All materials and reference will be supplied in our new facility, which features color corrected lighting and a state of the art air filtration system.
Class is limited to 14 and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up, browse to the pricing and availablity link on the right and select Craig's February workshop
